Since our first trade show in 2009, the Kivalliq Trade Show has always focused on promoting and developing entrepreneurship within the Kivalliq Region. Originally developed as a youth workshop held annually at the Kivalliq Trade Show, the Kivalliq Entrepreneurship Program (KEP) has now developed into a standalone program. While KEP is still an important component of the annual Kivalliq Trade Show, it is now also offered regularly both online and in-person in Kivalliq communities.
Program participants are introduced to the basics of entrepreneurship and business development. The 5 day program includes topics such as financial literacy, accounting and bookkeeping, understanding your business plan, defining markets and customer base, marketing, and funding programs. Throughout the sessions, guest speakers present to the participants about related topics. These guests are local business owners, mentors, young entrepreneurs, community and regional program leaders, as well as potential funding partners. Participants will learn what resources are out there for them to support their business, and how to access funding.
